You bet it can.
From corporate conglomerates like General Electric and IBM to individual entrepreneurs and work-at-home professionals, thousands of companies worldwide are finding ways to increase sales, reduce marketing and advertising costs and boost profits.
But as with any new medium, you have to know what works, what's effective, what gets the attention of potential clients. In Hands-On Internet Business Seminar, you'll learn the keys to using the Internet as a powerful new business tool--with measurable results. We'll give you step-by-step advice for developing a marketing strategy specifically tailored to marketing your business on the Internet...
We'll lead you on a live tour through some of the most popular business sites on the Internet so you can see for yourself how easy and effective it is to communicate with existing and potential customers through the World Wide Web. You will get the opportunity to try everything yourself! See how easy it is to send e-mail, join mailing lists and discussion groups, browse the Web and even create your own home page!
Plus, you'll take home a packet of useful information, including our white papers, lists of Internet resources, session notes, useful tips, etc.

There are many sessions to choose from in this seminar. Although you can go to any sessions you want, we have designed four tracks (sequences of sessions) to make it easier to choose sessions. You can attend two sessions in the morning (they are marked 1 and 2), and one session (3) in the afternoon. Two rates are available: one for full day (3 sessions, lunch and consultations), the other for half day (2 sessions and lunch).
If you look at the Session Schedule, you will see that session codes have one or more letters in them (i.e. 2A or 3B, C). These letters indicate the tracks to which these sessions belong. So, choose your job function from the list below and then pick the sessions whose codes contain the letters associated with your chosen job function.

This is an introductory presentation on the Internet. It assumes no prior knowledge of the Internet on your part.
In this session you will learn what the Internet is all about, where it came from, how big it is, what we know about its users, what is hype and what is not.

This presentation takes off from where the Introduction ends. It addresses in much greater detail the ways in which the Internet tools described in the Introduction can be used to promote your company on the Internet and to cut down your customer service costs. In this session you get the marketing executive's perspective on today's Internet without pie-in-the-sky "super highway" hype.

This session is loaded with useful information, tips, and how-tos:
This is a hands-on workshop that allows you to explore the Internet tools and services described in the Introduction. Knowledge of a graphical environment, such as Windows or Mac, is required, but no prior experience with using the Internet is necessary. Professional trainers will show you how to use a web browser, e-mail, newsgroups, search engines, directories, etc. You will also have the opportunity to explore the Internet on your own, with assistance available at any time.

This is a presentation for information systems professionals, who are familiar with the concepts of networking (you do not need to be an expert on any network operating system or protocols). The session will give you an overview of creating and managing Internet connections, as well as the changes to your in-house computing systems, necessary to accommodate the protocols used on the Internet.
In this session we will answer questions such as:

In this afternoon session you will get the opportunity to see how the concepts presented in the "Marketing and Customer Service on the Internet" session are used in real life by real people. Hear local businesspeople talk about the hurdles they may have had to overcome, and the benefits they have gotten out of the Internet.
Attending this session will help you avoid problems and save money on your own Internet implementation by learning from other people's mistakes and successes. Hearing the speakers share their first-hand experiences with the Internet will also help you decide on whether the Internet is for you or not.
This is a hands-on workshop that teaches you to create Web pages yourself. Knowledge of a graphical environment, such as Windows or Mac, as well as "browsing experience" with the Internet is required. In this session, you will explore the basics of HTML: the formatting language of the World Wide Web. Get a chance to see what it takes to create a page and place it on a Web server. HyperText Markup Language (HTML) lets you define what words are headlines, paragraphs and bullets, where pictures go, and what phrases send you to other ìplacesî on the web. You will learn what formatting codes must be, should be, and might be included in a typical HTML document.
You will learn:
Now that you know what HTML is, and how to create a page, you need to learn how to design effectively for an interactive medium like the World Wide Web. This presentation will explain the challenges of interactive interface design and the ways to make your Web site easy to navigate and appealing to both first-time and repeat visitors.
You will learn:

One of the distinguishing features of this seminar is the opportunity to browse the Internet on your own to get a feel for what the 'Net is all about. During lunch, as well as after the 3rd session, you can use one of our computers that will be setup with a live high-speed link to the Internet to explore it on your own. If you need help, a professional trainer will assist you. During these times you can also ask questions of our Internet consultants about implementing Internet access or presence for your company.
