Introduction

This readme file contains the following information:

For information regarding new features and system requirements, refer to the Client for Java Administrator's Guide.

Finding Documentation

The MetaFrame Presentation Server documentation is available from the Document Center. To view, search, and print the PDF documentation, you need Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0.5 or later with Search. You can download the free Acrobat Reader program from Adobe's Web site.

Documentation is also available on the Citrix Knowledge Center Web site (select Product Documentation). Updates to Citrix technical manuals are posted on the Web site.

Known Issues

Secure Gateway settings can no longer be specified in the ICA Settings dialog box

The Secure Gateway configuration options have been removed from the Firewall Settings tab of the ICA Settings dialog box, because this information is normally provided by Web Interface or other server-side configuration.

If you have configured a Secure Gateway address in an earlier release of the Client for Java and now wish to change or remove this setting, you must locate and edit the appsrv.ini client-side configuration file. Note that the location of this file is JVM- and platform-dependent; refer to the Client for Java Administrator's Guide for details. To stop using Secure Gateway, delete the SSLEnable parameter in your appsrv.ini file. To change the Secure Gateway server, modify the value specified in the SSLProxyHost parameter.

Seamless windows are supported on Mac OS X Panther

Seamless windows are supported when running the Client for Java on Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther). However, note that when minimizing or restoring a seamless window, the window is sometimes shown as a truncated Windows-style titlebar on the Mac OS X desktop near the dock. When this happens, click the minimize or restore button in this titlebar window to complete the minimize or restore operation respectively.

Seamless windows are still not supported on Mac OS X versions earlier than 10.3. If the Client for Java is configured for seamless mode and run on these platforms, a non-seamless session is launched.

Note that when running in Japanese this item does not apply: the Client for Java does not support Mac OS X when run in a Japanese environment.

Support for "legacy" graphics is no longer available

This release of the Client for Java does not provide the JICA-tw1 archives that were previously available to provide "legacy" graphics support. This means it is no longer possible to connect to a MetaFrame 1.8 server without any service packs supplied. Installing Service Pack 1 (or later) onto MetaFrame 1.8 introduces support for the newer graphics capabilities supported by the Client for Java Version 8.x. However, MetaFrame 1.8 SP1 still uses legacy graphics by default for connections using 256 colors. There are two alternative workarounds for this:

All other known issues are documented in Chapter 6 of the Client for Java Administrator's Guide.
