PRE-RELEASE SOFTWARE:  This software is a pre-release version.  It may not work the way a final version of the software will.  We may change it for the final, commercial version.  We also may not release a commercial version.

This document provides important, late-breaking information about this release of the Business Data Search Snap-in which supplements the Microsoft Dynamics Snap documentation.

Important Note: This release of BDS Snap-in is meant for previewing to the Snap community and constitutes a proof of concept only. It has been tested only on a single box configuration where-in all the pre-requisites and all the back-office application servers that need to be searched like Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0, Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 and Microsoft Office SharePoint Services 2007 were  installed on the same machine as the BDS server. In the final release however, the BDS Server would have to be installed on a box separate from the ones that host the back-office application servers.

For the latest set of issues and information, please check the documentation, news items and message board at Dynamics Snap site on GotDotNet.com.

Known Issues

The following list contains the set of known issues regarding the installation and the application:

The BDS User Interface requires fine tuning

The UI is nascent and needs to be fine tuned. We are working on this.

‘Product Details’ is displayed in the preview pane although the record selected is of a different entity type

This is a known bug which would be rectified in the final release.

BDS Snap-in does not work when installed on a machine separate from the one that hosts CRM and AX servers

This is a known bug which would be rectified in the final release.

BDS Setup process requires lot of manual steps.

We are aware of this limitation and are working towards creating a better user experience for the administrators who would install the BDS snap-in. This would be done by the final release.
