The ac1st15.dll has been provided to resolve the conflict that occurs when you run Autodesk® products and Norton AntiVirus 2003 on the Windows 98/ME operating systems.

Installation of Update for Installed Autodesk Products

These instructions are for all of the products listed above except Autodesk Inventor. After you download this update, you can install it by following these instructions.

To install the Update on the target computer

  1. Close all other applications and log in as Administrator.
  2. Copy the downloaded file to a temporary folder.
  3. Navigate to the Autodesk Shared folder, usually located under C:\Program Files\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\
  4. In the Autodesk Shared folder, right-click Ac1st15.dll. From the shortcut menu, select Rename. For example, you might rename the file ac1st15.bak.
    NOTE: It is strongly recommended that you rename this file before proceeding.
  5. In the temporary folder, right-click ac1st15.dll and select Copy.
  6. Navigate back to the \Common Files\Autodesk Shared folder, right-click and select Paste.
  7. Restart your computer.

Installation of Update for Installed Versions of Inventor 5.x and Inventor 6.0

After you download this update, you can install it by following these instructions.

To install the Update on the target computer

  1. Close all other applications and log in as Administrator.
  2. Copy the downloaded file to a temporary folder.
  3. Navigate to the Inventor installation location, usually located under C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 5.3 or C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 6.0.
  4. From the Inventor installation folder, navigate to \Compatibility\Bin folder and right-click ac1st15.dll. From the shortcut menu, select Rename. For example, you might want to rename the file ac1st15.bak.
    NOTE: It is strongly recommended that you rename this file before proceeding.
  5. In the temporary folder, right-click ac1st15.dll and select Copy.
  6. Navigate back to the \Autodesk\Inventor 5.3\Compatibility\Bin folder or C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 6.0, right-click and select Paste.
  7. Navigate to \Program Files\Common Files\Autodesk Shared folder, right-click and select Paste.
  8. Restart your computer.

Installation of the Update Before you Install Autodesk Products on a System Where Norton Antivirus 2003 is Installed

These instructions are for all of the products listed in the Affected Products section except Autodesk Inventor. After you download this update, you can install it by following these instructions.

To install the update on the target computer

  1. Close all other applications and log in as Administrator.
  2. Copy the downloaded file to a temporary folder.
  3. Using Windows Explorer, navigate to \Program Files\Common Files\ folder and create a new folder called Autodesk Shared.
  4. In the temporary folder, right-click ac1st15.dll and select Copy.
  5. Navigate back to \Program Files\Common Files\Autodesk Shared folder, right-click and select Paste.
  6. Restart your computer.
  7. Install the Autodesk product by following the installation instructions.

Installation of the Update Before you Install Inventor on a System Where Norton Antivirus 2003 is Already Installed

After you download this update, you can install it by following these instructions.

To install the update on the target computer

  1. Close all other applications and log in as Administrator.
  2. Uninstall Norton Antivirus 2003.
  3. Install Inventor and Volo View by following the installation instructions.
  4. Copy the downloaded file to a temporary folder.
  5. In the temporary folder, right-click ac1st15.dll and select Copy.
  6. Navigate to \Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 5.3\Compatibility\Bin folder, or C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 6.0\Compatibility\Bin folder, right-click and select Paste.
  7. Navigate to \Program Files\Common Files\Autodesk Shared folder, right-click and select Paste.
  8. Reinstall Norton Antivirus 2003.
  9. Restart your computer.
