Using the makermt Utility for BrightStor Disaster Recovery Option Overview Makermt is a command line utility used to view and modify the server access information contained in a Machine Specific Floppy disk generated by BrightStor Disaster Recovery (DR) Option. This utility should be used for remote DR only. This utility is supported on Windows 2000/XP/2003, but not Windows NT. Information required to access the BrightStor server is contained in a file called W2KARMT.DMP. This file is found on the Machine Specific Floppy disk created for the client machine using the Create Boot Kit Wizard as well as in the DR\"client machinename" folder under the BrightStor server home directory. The makermt utility allows you to view and modify this information, giving you additional flexibility when performing a disaster recovery. For example, if server access information must be changed for any reason, the makermt utility can be used to modify the information in the W2KARMT.DMP file on the Machine Specific Floppy disk, and then disaster recovery can be performed using this disk. Warning! Exercise caution when using this utility. Incorrect information in the W2KARMT.DMP file may cause a disaster recovery to fail. Using the makermt Utility Usage: makermt {-dump|-alter} {-client machinename|-file filename} Options: -dump Dump the server access info to the screen and exit -alter Alter the server access info -client machinename View server access info for the named client -file filename View server access info in the named file Use the -dump switch to instruct the utility to dump the information in the file to the screen. This switch does not allow you the option to -alter anything. Use the -alter switch to supply new information to be stored in the file. Use the -file switch to specify a file on which to run the utility. This file should always be a W2KARMT.DMP file generated by DR. Use the -client switch instead of the -file switch to run the utility on the W2KARMT.DMP file contained in the clientname folder under the DR folder under the BrightStor program folder. This switch works only when you run the utility on the BrightStor server used to back up the client.
