2.0 Installing the BrightStor ARCserve Backup Client Agent

Use the installation script to install the Client Agent and all available packages. To install the Client Agent, follow these steps:

  1. From the UNIX or Linux system, log in as root.

  2. If the agent packages are on CD, mount the CD to an available or newly created directory on your local system, as in the following examples:

    For UNIX:

    # mount -F cdfs /dev/dsk/c1t2d0 /mnt/cdrom

    For Linux:

    # mount -t iso9660 /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom

    For Mainframe Linux:

If the BrightStor ARCserve packages are on CD, mount the CD to a remote UNIX or Linux computer and create a mount point to access the CD, as in the following example:

    #mount remote_server:/remote_mount_point /mnt/cdrom

  3. To start the installation, go to the operating system directory on the mounted CD, as in the following example:
    # cd /mnt/cdrom/UNIX/aix

  4. Execute the following script from the command prompt:
    # ./install
