This document contains information on the following topics:
I. Installation
Notes: ARCserve or ASO Unicenter TNG Integration MUST be installed on the same computer with Unicenter TNG WorldView components.
The Setup Program installs necessary components into both Unicenter TNG and ARCserve or ASO directories. It creates two program icons "ARCserve or ASO Object Creation" and "Unicenter TNG Integration Notes" under the "ARCserve or ASO" program group.
II. Creating ARCserve or ASO Objects and ASO/ARCserve View
The Object Creation program discovers ARCserve and ASO servers on the network and creates ARCserve and ASO objects in the Unicenter TNG repository. It creates ARCserve or ASO objects under each ARCserve or ASO server's Unispace. This program also creates a business process view called ASO/ARCserve View, which represents a view of all ARCserve and ASO objects.
NOTE: Prior to running the Object Creation program, you need to run the Unicenter TNG Auto Discovery program. This will discover machines and synchronize ARCserve or ASO servers on the network and ARCserve or ASO objects in the repository if any new ARCserve or ASO servers have been installed or the repository was rebuilt.
NOTE: If you are working with a remote repository, please read the section, Working With Remote Repository.
·
Launch "ARCserve Object Creation" or "ASO Object Creation" program from the program group "ARCserve" or "ASO for Windows NT".·
Select "Delete existing objects" if you want the program to delete all ARCserve and ASO objects in the repository before creating the new ones. This allows you to keep ARCserve and ASO servers on the network and ARCserve and ASO objects in the repository synchronized. If "Delete existing objects" is not selected, the program adds new ARCserve and ASO objects and updates existing ones if necessary.·
Click the Start Button to proceed. When you are asked to sign on to the repository, enter the repository User ID and password, and then click OK.·
You may click the Stop Button to abort the operation or wait until the process completes.·
Click the Start Button to re-start or Close Button to exit the program.NOTE: The Setup Program also creates ARCserve and ASO class definitions in the Unicenter TNG object repository. If you rebuild the repository, all ARCserve and ASO class definitions will be removed. You will need to either re-install the program or run the ASTNGCLS.EXE utility to recreate ARCserve and ASO class definitions. The ASTNGCLS utility is located in TNGWV\BIN directory (TNGFW\BIN if you are running Unicenter TNG Framework).
III. Working with Remote Repository
The Object Creation program by default creates ARCserve and ASO objects in the local Unicenter TNG repository. In the case where the local WorldView was set up to work with the repository on a remote machine, the Object Creation program requires an additional parameter. Run the Object Creation program from a command prompt as follows. From the ARCserve or ASO home directory, enter:
"ASTNGX.EXE /R REPOSITORY_NAME" or
"ASTNGX.EXE /R"
If the repository name is not specified with "/R", the program will display a dialog for entering an available repository after the Start Button is clicked.
Note: Unicenter TNG Framework does not support remote repository configuration.
IV. Features
·
New Cheyenne Alert Unicenter TNG Notification (Windows NT)Cheyenne Alert for ARCserve 2000 or ASO v6.6 supports Unicenter TNG Notification. All events can be sent to the Unicenter TNG Event Manager Console Logs and WorldView.
·
Operations on ARCserve or ASO ObjectUnder Unicenter TNG 2-D or 3-D Map, you will see ARCserve or ASO View and ARCserve or ASO Objects. When you right-click on an ARCserve or ASO object the context menu appears, From the menu you can launch ARCserve or ASO Backup Wizard, Restore Wizard, Device Wizard, and ARCserve or ASO Manager to perform various tasks on this ARCserve or ASO server.
V. Using Alert Unicenter TNG Notification (Windows NT/2000)
In order to ensure that ARCserve or ASO events are sent to Unicenter TNG, please refer to the ARCserve 2000 or ASO Administrator's Guide. In particular, read the sections on Alert options. Also read Chapter 11, Using the Alert Manager. In particular, read the section Using the Unicenter TNG Option. Briefly, here are the requirements

VIII. Discovering and Managing ARCserve or ASO Unix machines
If you installed support for ARCserve or ASO for Windows NT and UNIX
Discovering
The discovery program is unable to discover ARCserve or ASO UNIX on subnets not containing any Windows NT machines. To discover these machines, you must specify the subnet containing the ARCserve or ASO UNIX machines you wish to discover. This can be done using the DSCONFIG.EXE utility located in the ARCserve or ASO home directory (refer to the DSCONFIG.EXEs On-line Help for further information). Once specified, press Discover Now button to discover ARCserve or ASO UNIX machines, and then launch the ARCserve or ASO Object Creation Utility.
Managing
Once the ARCserve or ASO Unix machine is discovered, an icon will be created in the ASO/ARCserve View as well as the machine's unispace. Right click on the icon to manage the server.
If you installed support for ARCserve or ASO UNIX only
Discovering
TNG Unicenter Agentworks will automatically discover an ARCserve or ASO Unix machine if "as6Agent" is running on the Unix machine.
Managing
Once the ARCserve or ASO Unix machine is discovered, an icon will be created in the ASO/ARCserve View as well as the machine's unispace. Although the ARCserve or ASO for Windows NT manager will support ARCserve or ASO for Unix, it is not required. You may still launch the JAVA manager from WorldView.
Whenever the JAVA manager is launched from world view it tries to connect to the default port used by ARCserve or ASO(6060). You may reconfigure this in the file TNG\BIN\arcuxgo.ini. To change it for all machines, change the default settings. To change it for a specific machine, you must create a section with the machine name from Unicenter.
For information on changing WorldView icon colors and receiving events, please refer to the ARCserve or ASO Unix manual.
