has been enhanced to ensure that you can reliably restore

The following issues are known to exist in BrightStor
ARCserve Backup for Laptops & Desktops r11.1 SP2.
- While you are installing the client application via ACI on
Windows 98 and Windows ME systems, the installation
progress bar does not display.
- When you reinstall a user account from the BrightStor
ARCserve Backup for Laptops & Desktops server, the server
system sends the user's configuration file and all backed
up data from the server system to the client system.
However, if you do not change the configuration of a user
account on the BrightStor ARCserve Backup for Laptops &
Desktops Server before you reinstall the account, the
backup sets on the client system will not mirror the data
on the BrightStor ARCserve Backup for Laptops & Desktops
server.
To remedy this problem, do the following:
- From the BrightStor ARCserve Backup for Laptops & Desktops
Server Explorer, extend the user's configuration, right
click Backup Options, and select Properties.
- Click OK on the Properties dialog without making any
changes.
- Run check server on the client system.
Note: This problem does not exist when you change the
configuration of a user account on the BrightStor ARCserve
Backup for Laptops & Desktops server before you reinstall
the user account.
- When you perform maintenance operations on a BrightStor
ARCserve Backup for Laptops & Desktops server that require
you to refresh the status of a system (for example, Move
User), you should refresh each system in same sequence as
the maintenance operations were performed.
- You can fine-tune and enhance product and data transmission
performance by ensuring that network communication
mechanisms are properly specified.
If you are experiencing poor performance, ensure that the
following are properly configured:
- The Reverse DNS setting must be complete.
- The WINS database should not be associated with an old
record.
- The host names must be expressed in a hosts file accurately.
- When a node is communicating via NETBIOS broadcast only, do
not stop a machine that is specified as a master browser.
- When you perform a new installation of the BrightStor
ARCserve Backup for Laptops & Desktops Client application
using AutoClientInstaller, the CA File System Monitor and
CA File Change Recorder drivers may not appear in the
Device Manager.
To remedy this problem, do the following:
- Open the Device Manager and enable the Show hidden devices
option. (The CA File System Monitor and CA File Change
Recorder drivers are non-plug and play drivers.)
- If you do not see the above-described drivers in the
Non-Plug and Play Drivers directory tree, run “Scan for
hardware changes.”
- When you enable the Network Throttling option, network
traffic is not restricted when backup data from a client is
being sent to its destination server while a restore
operation to the same client is in progress. Under these
circumstances, BrightStor ARCserve Backup for Laptops &
Desktops is behaving as expected.
- After you install or upgrade to BrightStor ARCserve Backup
for Laptops & Desktops r11.1 SP2 on the BrightStor ARCserve
Backup for Laptops & Desktops Server and Server Explorer,
scheduled backups will not run on BrightStor ARCserve
Backup for Laptops & Desktops Client systems.
To remedy this problem, you must first ensure that the
Server Explorer is closed and then run the BMBAnalyzer on
the BrightStor ARCserve Backup for Laptops & Desktops
server system using the –RepairAllConfig option.
For example:
C:\Program Files\CA\BrightStor ARCserve Backup for Laptops & Desktops\Server\bmbanalyzer –RepairAllConfig
Note: This issue affects Japanese versions of BrightStor
ARCserve Backup for Laptops & Desktops r11.1 SP2 only.
- The BrightStor ARCserve Backup for Laptops & Desktops
Client, General Connections, Connection Interval option to
"Check for Missing Restore Responses" for a specified
interval does not function properly. This option inherits
its capabilities from the "Connect to Server according to
the hourly (daily) schedule" option, not from BrightStor
ARCserve Backup for Laptops & Desktops itself.
If you want to ensure that BrightStor ARCserve Backup for
Laptops & Desktops periodically checks for incomplete
restore jobs in progress, you must confirm that the
"Connect to Server according to the hourly (daily)
schedule" is specified for a period of time that is
different from any backup schedule specified.
If the BrightStor ARCserve Backup for Laptops & Desktops
client system detects incomplete restore jobs in progress,
it completes them, if necessary.
- Duplicate entries for the same user will appear on the
BrightStor ARCserve Backup for Laptops & Desktops server
after you install the client via ACI and use the following
syntax for domain authentication:
<Username>:<PC Name>@<DNS Domain>
To remedy this problem, use the following syntax for domain
authentication when you create and configure an ACI user:
<Domain>\<Username>:<PC Name>
