1.  Introduction
================

This README file contains release notes for the Bootable Intel(R) 
Processor Frequency ID Utility, describing any problems or 
issues that were known at the time of shipment.

2.  Release Notes
=================

2.1 Frequency ID support of Mobile Intel Celeron(R) processors  

   Frequency testing and reporting is listed as being supported
   on Mobile Intel Celeron processors beginning with 450MHz.

   The Intel Processor Frequency ID Utility v2.5 and later supports 
   frequency testing and reporting for Mobile Celeron processors 
   beginning with processor classification = 0681. 

   Frequency testing and reporting of Mobile Celeron processors 
   with any previous processor classification is not supported 
   by this utility, although some of them were manufactured to 
   run as high as 466MHz.

2.2 Incompatibility with memory managers

   The Bootable Intel Processor Frequency ID Utility is incompatible
   with DOS memory managers, including EMM386 and QEMM*.  If you 
   run the utility under DOS instead of booting with the utility
   floppy disk, make sure that all memory managers are removed 
   from the config.sys file.

2.3 Bootable version will not work under Windows* operating systems

   This version of the utility is designed to be set up on a floppy
   disk, and will run automatically after booting to the floppy
   disk.  It will not run correctly if executed while a Microsoft 
   Windows* operating system is running.

2.4 Changes in 7.2

   Version 7.2 of the Bootable Intel Processor Frequency ID 
   Utility is only intended to identify the following Intel 
   processors:
	Intel(R) Pentium(R) processor
	Intel Pentium processor with MMX(TM) technology
	Intel Pentium OverDrive(R) processor
	Intel Pentium OverDrive processor with MMX technology
	Intel Pentium Pro processor
	Intel Pentium II OverDrive for Pentium Pro processor
	Intel Pentium II processor
	Intel Pentium II Xeon(TM) processor
	Intel Celeron(R) processor
	Intel Pentium III processor
	Intel Pentium III processor-S
	Intel Pentium III Xeon processor
	Mobile Intel Pentium processor
	Mobile Intel Pentium II processor
	Mobile Intel Pentium III processor
	Mobile Intel Pentium III processor-M
	Mobile Intel Celeron processor

   To identify or run frequency tests on Intel processors newer 
   than those listed above, download the Intel Processor 
   Identification Utility from the Intel support web site at:
   http://support.intel.com/support/go/processorid/

3.  Installation Instructions
=============================

   Follow these instructions to prepare a bootable diskette 
   containing the Bootable Intel Processor Frequency ID Utility and
   to run the utility.

   1) Save the file downloaded from the Intel web site to your
      hard drive.
   2) Run the downloaded file to extract all setup files.
   3) Run the setup.bat file while a blank 1.44 MB floppy disk is 
      in the drive.
   4) Restart the computer with the floppy disk in the drive.  The
      utility will run automatically.
