Favorites Cleaner - By Steven Wettberg
FavCleaner lets you validate the bookmarked
pages in your personal 'Favorites' folder
in Internet Explorer 5.0 or greater. The
program lets you validate all of your favorites
entries or you may run them one at a time,
the program is not multi-threaded (I plan
to multithread in the next release) so validating
all links does take a while. The links that
are not valid are displayed in the 'Dead
Links' list, you may then choose to 'Move
Dead Links'. Upon executing the 'Move' option
the program will have you select a destination
folder, the links and corresponding directory
structure will be placed here, you can then
delete them at your own discretion.
Setup -
- Place the all of the files from the ZIP file into one
directory. I don't care which directory so you may place them anywhere you like.
- Navigate to that directory and double click
the 'FavCLeaner.exe' program.
- The next steps are optional, you do not have
to add the program to the IE toolbar.Within
this program; select 'Edit/Add button to
IE Toolbar'.
- You may now exit Favorites Cleaner.
- Start Internet Explorer.
- If you see a toolbar icon titled 'Validate'
then the setup is complete. You may also
run FavCLeaner in the future via Internet
Explorers 'Tools/Validate Favorites' menu
item. Iif you do not see the toolbar icon
then proceed to step 7.
- This means you had previously customized
the toolbar (and must do so again). Within
Internet Explorer select the menu items
'View/Toolbars/Customize', you will see an
item available called 'Validate', simply
add this item and you're finished.
