TestFile, version 1.03 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ About: ===== This is a simple utility to assist network administrators checking the very basic network performance in file save/read operations. The program is FreeWare and maybe used and copied by anyone. Usage: ===== Just select a network drive in "Testing Work Path", specify the Size for the TestFile, and hit the magic button... More Information: ============== The program creates a file named "$TEST$.TMP" in the Testing Work Path folder, fills it with dummy information, and times this operation. Then delays for a few seconds, Then reads the same files and times it again. Note that the results are very in accurate because they are affected by many parameters - CPU, RAM, OS, HardDisk, NIC, Media, etc... on both workstation and server. The program does not disable file caching - so this affects the test also. You can test network or local drives. If you want to test a floppy drive, it is recommended to run the test in Safe Mode.
